Projects

Ever been inside a huge water silo?

We periodically hire a specialized diving company to inspect and clean our two water silos (situated at the end of 99th, above Manzanita.)

Capital Improvement Plan

Sandy Shores Filtration Plant

After many years of planning and preparation, DWA is constructing an Iron and Manganese Treatment System at the Sandy Shores Well. The project includes a new treatment building with an ATEC water treatment system, a new electrical control system, a new chlorine storage and injection system, new housing for the well and a retention pond to hold backflush when filters are automatically cleaned and flushed.

Future Capital Projects under consideration:

  • Connecting the 2″ galvanized water main on Hake Road SW to the 6″ PVC water main along Manzanita Beach Road SW. This connection will bring much needed flow rate capacity to the south end of Hake Road, and it will complete a circuit of piping to ensure the freshness of the water all along both roads.
  • Install an 8″ water main from 94th Ave SW to SW Summerhurst Road, continuing south along SW Summerhurst Road to connect to the 6″ main at the intersection of Point Piner Road SW. This connection will bring much needed flow rate capacity allowing future connections in the Pt. Piner/Summerhurst communities, which currently cannot be served due two a 2″ main constriction.

Past Projects

2020: Installed a back-up generator at the buster pump station located at the end of 99th.  We are now in compliance with the Washington Department of Health’s requirement to have 33psi at all times.
